Soup #23

Fennel and lemon.
I must confess that I did not have the greatest of hopes for this one, but it took me by surprise. The taste was complex and well balanced. I must confess that I added a bit less lemon than what the book said, previous experiences has taught me that lemon is an ingredient that they love a bit to much. But yea, this was a really really nice soup!

New couch

And it is great! Comfy, looks good, and just the right size. And we got it for free, the offer was buy a piece of cake and get a free couch. Ok, it was the most expensive cake I have bought so far, but thats ok. The world has also become a better place due to this. No one has to sit in our old couch ever again since it now resides on the dump. And there was much rejoicement.

Moving castle

Hmm, so, hmm.
If you have not seen Howls Moving Castle yet and plan to, but think that you ought to read the book first I can only say DONT. Or, read the book first and Dont see the film. Or maybe just see the film. But Dont read the book and then see the film. It will feel like a trip to the moon on gosimer wings. A hashish trip. It was just weird. The book is great on its own. I would like to know how the film for someone who did not read the book, so if you fit that description please let me know.

Balls!?

If, I say if, you are to choose a photo to have on the front page on the newspaper that is to illustrate falling accidents, Why on earth would you choose one where the balls of the poor guy are showing???

Ok, I know its not the case, but it really looks like that. The paper is eskilstuna kuriren on the fifth of January this year and I have been meaning to blog about it ever since I saw it.

Paper

Have been spending several hours sorting through stuff that is on my desk. Stuff stuff stuff and more stuff. Everything from old bills, pension papers, old lists, dozen of cd's, papers, maps, papers and more papers. This has resulted in piles over the entire living room with different stuff. The only way to get the living room in order again is to put everything back on the desk. Hence I have spent hours doing stuff but getting nothing done. Thats time well spent.

Soup #22

Artichoke and dill. And it was nice. But since the lemon juice was added at the beginning and not at the end where you could taste and add lemon until it tasted right, the end result was a bit to sour in this case.

By the way, what is the point of mixing the soup and then pour it into a Clean casserole? Why is it supposed to be clean? It is just soup in there.

A job I want!

On my job-hunt today I found a couple of interesting jobs that I will apply for, but there is one that I really think is great! It is as a teacher/guide at Tom Tits. It is a place filled with physics/chemistry/etc experiments where people (young and old) come to play and learn. It is a place where I would have so much fun.
One other job sounds a bit cool too, to build gyro stabilized camera systems that is to be mounted on helicopters.

Should be outlawed

I am a tolerable guy. I think people can dress how ever they want. I think people can look however they want. Pink hair and torn up clothes is all fine. But there is one thing that I have a big hangup on. Something that I think should be punishable with a swift kick in the ass and a quick draw with the scissors. Men with comb overs. Men with comb overs has no place in todays society. They should be confined to their rooms and then be surrounded by mirrors until they see how erroneous that their choice of lifestyle is. Cause it is a choice. They actually choose that they want to look like that. And it is wrong. It is just so wrong.

Darn it

Thats all I can say. This is the time to buy camera gear. Right now. In the states. I would save 8000 on the camera house alone if I bought now. But right now is also the time when I dont have that kind of money. So, darn it. I will have to wait until I have a job and just hope that the dollar will stay where it is. Or maybe I should take a lone, buy three cameras in NY, come back here and sell two of them and then repay the loan... I bet it would work. If only the guys in customs dont grab me and make me pay import tax. Ah, darn it. I will keep the camera gear I have and just continue to dream about the stuff I cant afford to get. Yet.

Hangup

DN today reports that seven out of ten batteries sold 2006 was recycled in 2006. An apparent record, which DN thinks is wounderful. I have at least two problems here, first, I think that it is far to few to be happy about. Everyone knows that you should not throw batteries in the trash. Secondly, and the real hangup that I have, is that Why would I recycle a battery that I buy, say in December 2006, that year? It makes no sense. If you are after a number you ought to look at how many batteries that are thrown away compared to how many that are recycled. (#recycled/(#recycled+#thrown away)). The only way that I would be cool with the statistics that DN has is if the number of batteries sold is the same every year, which I really don't think that it is.

Good idea or Bad idea?

I woke up this morning with a business idea, (I do that sometimes) and I need you to tell me if it is a good one or if it is a dead end. The idea is to start a First Aid for flowers. People gives me a call if their flowers are circling the drain and I show up and do my best to fix them. New soil, new pots, right amount of water and nourishment, correct placement so that they get the appropriate amount of light etc. If their Orchids don't flower again I give suggestions on how they should be handled, Oh, no wait. That one I can not do. I am horrible at getting my orchids to flower again. My phaleonopsis was close a month ago, but of course I managed to break off the new stem. But ok, I will learn that and then share that knowledge with my customers.

So, what do you think? Is it a real possibility? Would it work?

There is nothing on tv

And what is better to do then than watching cult movies all night?? Started of with Cronenbergs Videodrome which is now followed by Pink Flamingos.
And why not end the night with a Japanese zombie flick: Stacy.

Mixed rants

Two days ago I discovered something that was not expecting to find here in Etuna: A flower shop with a Huge assortment of Orchids. Beautiful Orchids of many many types. A fact is that I have never seen such an assortment more than once before, and that was at a place outside Chang Mai in Thailand. It is a place where I could easily spend thousands of kronor every weekend. The only thing that is stopping me is that I dont have that kind of money, and that I dont have any place left to put flowers on.

I took a trip up to Uppsala last Wednesday to clean out my old apartment, and as I was sitting on the train back here I was writing down some stuff on one of my tickets, so, here is some stuff that annoy me:
- The fact that traveling to and from an airport is expensive.
- That Iphone will not come to sweden. The only way to get it is to import it and then hack it.
- Cows. Farting cows.
- Pro's vs Joes. This tv show is really bad.
- My self, when I am watching Pro's vs Joes.
- Wall paper. Or more that I have ruined the wall paper in my old flat and have to pay for new once. This is not the funniest thing that I have ever put money on.

Stuff that does not annoy me, but I want to mention anyway:
- If you are in the market for a free bike, there is one parked at the entrance to the galleria with Lundeq, the entrance closest to the train station. There is a note on the bike that says "free bike". If you want it is yours, but it is rather crappy, so dont complain to me if you take it and then end up hating it.
- I was very nervous when I was returning the keys to my apartment. I only had two keys to the basement and I thought that I was supposed to have three. So I thought that I would have to pay for the lost one. Then it turns out that I was only supposed to have one! Now, dont they owe me some money???
- Oh yea. Free coffee is quite nice!

Soup #21

Vichyssoise! Now a potato and leek soup might not sound all that fashinating, but it really was. It was made creamy by adding... cream... and then eaten both warm and cold. It is supposed to be a could soup, but it worked well warm also. This time is the first that we got enough food to actually feed as many persons as the book said it would wich is a plus!

Easter bike ride

Got on my bike this afternoon and took a ride up to Mälaren. The weather varied between beautiful sunlight to full out snowstorm, but it was rather nice to get some fresh air.

# of deer spotted on the ride: 2, and this time Ive got proof!

I stumbled upon them as they were standing in the edge of a field having a quiet sunset snack, and even if they did notice that I was there, and that I had my camera, they didn't mind me that much. I was about 50m away and watched them for maybe twenty minutes. By then I was freezing so I got on my bike and peddled home.

Descided to move my blog here, to make it a bit easier to post from anywhere. For newcommers, and oldtimers, my old blog is still reachable at http://www.anst.uu.se/maekl789/Fnow.htm
