Two hours

Took a hike this weekend. Started here and strolled down Sörmlandsleden to Svalboviken, spending the night at the lake Näshultasjön. Getting home again was a real treat! The buss from Svalboviken, which you had to order by phone, was in fact a lady who drove us in a car to the closest busstop. At this exciting busstop there was nothing. And we had to wait there for two hours until the buss came. (Who planned that I don't know).

So, how do you kill two hours next to a road in the middle of Sweden? Why not by giving some ants half a peanut broken down into a few pieces and then watch them carry it away???

The small pieces was gone within minutes, but the two large once proved to be more difficult. The ants gathered around them and seemed to be deliberating on how to do it. And it was a long deliberation. The pieces was rocked, climbed, rolled, maybe nibbled a bit. Then the ants went away, only to come back after a while to measure the pieces once again. Finally they got to work, painstakingly moving them towards the stack. And you would think that after all that deliberation they would have worked out which road that would be easiest to transport the boulder, but no, they had missed that part of the planning. They almost seemed to take a difficult route, maybe just so that they could brag about it to their grandchildren when they get old. 'You know, Once when I was a young ant, I moved a giant peanut a long long way on a very difficult road!' And if they contact me I have the photos to prove it.
